Save Bic Sports 6'7 Surfboard

Over All Rating Reviews :
Just my kooky two cents worth- it'd be good if reviewers felt connected enough to reality to actually try the products they are reviewing. I read through several reviews in order to get advice on retail philosophies (Juan Carlos seemed like a good dude to have a beer with) and the nuances of being a poser. Haven't seen this much love since I took up rock climbing all those years ago. As a recreational sports-person, I'd like a good quality product that I can afford to actually use. If anyone out there has actually ridden the BIC boards, other than BIC employees, please post a review so I can make an educated decision. Thanks!

Purchase Bic Sports 6'7 Surfboard

Over All Rating Reviews :
These moulded boards and the soft-tops all have way too much flex and you can't get any real speed when you need it. Speed is essential and it comes from a flat planed bottom with a slight V or channels. These ain't got those things. Don't park with the board in the sun for a long time or it'll melt to your car roof and then you won't have a good car or a board anymore. Skip buying a surfboard online, and remember "you get what you pay for" but for another $100 or $200 you can buy the real deal at your local beach shop.

Buying Bic Sports 6'7 Surfboard

Over All Rating Reviews :
The Bic 6'7" is an excellent beginner's board. I learned how to surf about a month and a half ago on an 8'6" used custom board. I ended up beating up the board pretty badly by pearling it and having it hit random things while I was trying to fit in my sedan. So, for about the three weeks I had it, I became much more adept at repairing dings on the board than actually riding it. I grew pretty frustrated by the unwieldiness of the large board as well as the high-maintenance (which I wasn't used to as a beginner), so I decided to get a Bic surfboard. Like what others have said, this board floats very well and is fairly wide and voluminous for a shortboard. Weak paddlers and heavier riders should benefit from the extra float. However, the board does not have so much float that you cannot duckdive. I am a relatively weak 5'11" 160lb person, but I have no trouble duckdiving the board. The width of the board also provides greater stability when trying to stand up, compared to a "typical" shortboard of the same length.

The greatest benefit of the Bic surfboards are that they are extremely durable. I have dropped the board onto a curb from a height of 5ft on its rail and there is a small indentation. No leaks or anything close to a break in the plastic. I have also surfed it onto some pretty sharp rocks without any cracks or leaks. There are only long, shallow surface scratches.

The only negative from the board is that it is somewhat slow and hard to turn, when compared to the few custom shortboards I've ridden. So, it seems somewhere between a mini-mal and a shortboard in terms of performance. However, that might have to do with my own poor surfing ability than the board itself.

Regardless, I plan to use this board forever--for slow breaking waves, for surfing treacherous conditions for the first time, and as a future teaching tool.

Cheap Bic Sports 6'7 Surfboard

Over All Rating Reviews :
I am a kook. I will always be a kook. I own about 7 surfboards mostly second-hand. Two, an ancient 6'0 fiberglass homemade job with a hand-painted dolphin on the bottom (to scare away the sharks), and a 7'10 Becker(sarcastically "Dude, awesome Becker!") are in various states of delam-delapidation which are waiting for me to repair. "Ride me, Biaatch!" they seem to say as I skillfully pull my 7'3" Bic from betwixt their dusty vertical graveyard.
Look here now, it's a great board. Well, because they can take some abuse. Probably right up to being run over by a truck. There's the magic, right there. The fins are a different attachment set-up, meaning I haven't yet strolled into a surf shop to look for replacements, and you do have to endure the taunts of some of our local "pros" who are looking for some "clean" (i.e. uncluttered, sparse, etc.) line-ups to "carve" some "gnarley" (really, the eighties?) turns and "lacerate with extreme prejudice" the backside of
some "mossback" "tanning" in the impact zone.
My bro has a 10' that he never takes out but is eminently rideable. But enough about me.
These boards, as I will have you believe, are easier to ride than their fiberglass counterparts. A 7'3 Bic WILL! be easier to ride than it's cousin the 7'3 fragile (that's Italian) Stewart. That is, if you can ride at all. Believe it or not, if you're new to the sport don't feel ashamed to take it into the whitewater and surf the misty whiteness to get the feel of it. My surf tag was "Chef" because I was always master of the "soup". Obviously, don't take it out to the Hook or 1st. Peak Pleasure point on an overhead day.
Get out there and have fun with your bouyant, well-nigh indestructible hunk of plastic heaven!

i have surfed on this board to try it out for my shop. i would recomend it to begginers because it has alot of float but is still more manuverable than a longboard. i would not recomend this to anyone who is intermediate or above, because of the float. this board never goes underwater. you can not oduckdive or anything. i found it hard to get out in big waves because the thing floats like a lifejacket. this or any other bic board is good for begginers but noone else.
